Gareth Capper has been promoted to the position of BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel general manager.
Mr Capper, 35, is a familiar face at the hotel, having started work there aged 18 as a barman. He later left, first to travel then to follow other career paths, including time spent working in the Island’s finance sector, before returning to the hotel in 2007 where he progressed his career, rising to the position of senior operations manager before his latest promotion.
He said: ‘Being appointed general manager is an exciting challenge and gives me the opportunity to apply the wide-ranging skills I’ve gained after serving in a variety of roles at the hotel. For me, being general manager is all about being “on the shop floor” as much as possible, connecting with your colleagues and, importantly, your guests.
‘Throughout my time with the hotel I have always been well supported in advancing my career. Now, as general manager, I shall be looking forward to repaying the confidence the company has shown in me by helping others progress and encouraging them to realise their career potential.
‘I’ll be building on the good work of my predecessor, Allen Jackson, and continuing the Palace’s tradition of delivering high standards of service our customers expect and the internationally respected BEST WESTERN brand demands.’
Group operations director Adrian Brockhouse, said: ‘Gareth has been a valued member of the team over many years, forging lasting positive links with our staff and our guests. He shares our ambition of providing exemplary customer service which is not only fundamental to the hotel’s continued success but is also a cornerstone of BEST WESTERN’s brand pre-eminence in the worldwide hospitality industry.’
