Shooting stars in Manx skies

by isleofman.com 13th August 2015

This photograph of the Milky Way and a shooting star framed by Andreas church is courtesy of Bill Dale, who set his cameras up during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower last night.

The Isle of Man enjoys dark skies status and conditions were perfect for the starry show. Typically fast and bright, the meteors are difficult to capture on camera. They get their name because they fly out of the constellation Perseus and are made up of bits of dust and ice from the Swift-Tuttle comet.
