Stage Struck Productions are delighted to announce that due to the success of last year The Battle of the Pantos (sponsored by Digitote) is returning for a 2nd year to the Gaiety Theatre, with darling of the Pantos Christopher Biggins as Head Judge!
Biggins is a well-known personality who has appeared in many British Television comedy classics, dramas and theatre performances ranging from Shakespeare to musicals all over the world. His personality and popularity shone through when he was crowned “King of the Jungle” in I’m a Celebrity – Get me out of Here. He is a regular guest on TV programmes from game shows to current affairs. However, without a doubt he is the Grand Dame of British Pantomimes.
Alison Lodge from Stage Struck Productions met with ‘Biggins’ and said he is very excited about his very first visit to the Isle of Man. ‘I gave him a book about our wonderful Gaiety Theatre and he can’t wait to see it. He’s staying for 3 nights so that he can experience more of our beautiful Island’.
Four local groups will showcase their talents by performing a version of their Pantomime in only 20 minutes in order to compete for the much-coveted first place! Contestants battling it out on the night will be, Hog the Limelight, Port St. Mary Cabaret Party, Peel Pantoloons and last year’s winners Marown Players. Gary Chatel a veteran of the theatre will compere the evening once again ensuring everything runs smoothly and everyone enjoys the show.
‘Last year the audience feedback was so great - everyone had a good time and had fun joining in,’ said Alison. ‘With Biggins, the UK’s pantomime expert around, everyone will have to raise their game and so this year promises to be even better and more fun!”
So let the Battle commence…
The Battle of the Pantos takes place on Saturday 5th September.
