Local company makes record donation to charity

The staff at Nedbank Private Wealth and Nedgroup Trust (Nedbank Private Wealth’s trust division in Jersey and Guernsey) are proud to announce that a record ?11,189.43 was raised across its offices last year for five staff-nominated charities. This amount is an impressive 29% increase on the sum raised the previous year and demonstrates the tremendous effort all the staff have put into fundraising, through social events, raffles and cake sales.

Sharon Connor, the chair of the companies’ charity committee, said: “We are delighted that our staff raised such a significant amount last year and, once again, the company has kindly agreed to match the funds, pound for pound, allowing us an additional ?11,189.43 to be allocated for charity initiatives throughout this year. The first payment we made was to add ?3,810.57 to the amount staff raised so we could donate a total of ?15,000 to our five chosen charities.”

The five staff-nominated charities were Macmillan Cancer Support (Isle of Man), Hospice Isle of Man, Friends of the special care baby unit (SCBU) in Jersey, The Ivy Trust in Guernsey and Save the Children. While the first four charities do an outstanding job of supporting the local communities in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, the latter charity is recognised worldwide for its campaigns promoting children's rights, providing relief and helping to support children in developing countries.

Sharon Connor, Laura Milligan, Louisa Hawes and Janet Taylor from Nedbank Private Wealth, presented the two Isle of Man-nominated charities and Save the Children with the cheques on behalf of all the staff.
