by isleofman.com 29th July 2015

The Manx contingent in the Special Olympics, being held in Los Angeles, have been making their mark.

The football team played Venezuela and won 5-0. In swimming, Emily Keigwin took bronze in the 100m freestyle, while Andrew McGeehan was fifth. Luke Seed finished in silver position but was disqualified for a technical infraction. In cycling, Chris Hattersley finished 4th in the 25k road race.

Education Minister Tim Crookall is at the Games. He said: 'It was an absolutely amazing experience to walk into the LA coliseum with team Isle of man for the opening ceremony of the special Olympics world games. The stadium was highly charged with excitement and noise from over 60,000 spectators.'
