Earlier this morning, Tuesday 28th July, emergency services were called to a report of an RTC on the Coast Road near Maughold. A single vehicle hade left the road and had come to rest approximately 3 metre down the bank. The 2 occupants were reported to be trapped inside the vehicle.
Upon arrival crews quickly discovered one adult driver and a child passenger still sat in the vehicle. Access to the vehicle was made difficult due to its location and the inclement weather conditions at the time of the incident. Crews liaised with paramedics to determine the best way of removing the driver of the vehicle who was suffering from neck pain. Fire crews and paramedics immobilised the driver’s neck before carefully removing them from the vehicle and sliding them back up to road level with the use of a Fire Service ladder.
The driver was transferred to an awaiting ambulance for further treatment. There is no update on the driver’s injuries however they are not thought to be serious.
The child in the vehicle was uninjured and was assisted up the ladder back to the roadway.
