Emergency services rescued a workman who was trapped after the partial collapse of a building site in Onchan.

The roof of a building that was being renovated in Eskdale Road, Onchan, collapsed during erection work at about 9am this morning (Saturday).

A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said one man sustained injuries as a result and was taken to hospital after fire crews secured the building to enable paramedics to stretcher him to safety. Another workman needed first aid assistance on the site for minor cuts.
