Crosby could get a new housing estate and shops if a scheme gets approval.
JM Project Management, based in Glen Vine, wants to build 29 houses and retail space, as well as provide a new bus layby and pelican crossing on the main road through the village.
But the local authority is concerned about access to the estate, which would be built between the main road and the old railway line, opposite the Reayrt ny Chrink housing estate, and says there is a requirement for low cost housing in the parish, suitable for downsizers as well as first time buyers.
The fields at Ballaglonney Farm are zoned for residential use and the developer wants to build three and four bedroom houses. Presently, Crosby doesn't have a shop. The nearest is the post office in Union Mills. The developer says that there is an established need for retail space as well as a bus layby and pelican crossing.
