The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is giving its support to a musical comedy show raising money for charity.

Nun Factor 2 – It’s Second to Nun will be performed at the Peel Centenary Centre in September to raise money for the volunteer-run entertainment venue as well as a charity helping families in Uganda.

The show is the work of Little Sisters Productions and is a sequel to the original Nun Factor, which debuted at the Peel Centenary Centre in July 2009. Writer and producer Trish Fargher said it will be a comedy revue offering ‘convent capers and musical mayhem’.

The Steam Packet Company has agreed to transport costumes and equipment for the show to and from the Island for free.

Trish said: ‘Little Sisters Productions wants to support two causes. The first is the Centenary Centre, which I've had a connection to since its inception and which is run entirely by volunteers and the service they provide, and the events it hosts, are excellent.

‘The second cause is Transport for Ugandan Sick Children. This is a small registered charity founded in 2012 by a friend of Little Sisters Productions, Carol Mitchell, a health worker from Bacup. As well as fundraising for the charity in the UK, Carol uses her own holiday time to visit Uganda.

‘The charity provides transport for sick and disabled children and pregnant women with health needs from villages around Jinja, Uganda, to clinics and hospitals. It also helps to facilitate "outreach" for follow-up care in Ugandan communities.

‘It tries to educate and empower families to safely and effectively treat those around them with basic health knowledge and skills. TUSC has a permanent presence in Jinja and needs to raise finance to fund the running of the minibus transport, provide mosquito nets and fund Yakub, the local man who runs this amazing service.’

Trish added: ‘I’d really like to thank the Steam Packet Company for its kind support.’

‘The volunteers who run the Centenary Centre do a fantastic job to provide a great entertainment venue, and fundraising events like this will help that to continue. We are also pleased to see that Nun Factor 2 will raise money for TUSC, which is doing such important work to improve the lives of families in Uganda.’

Nun Factor 2 – It’s Second to Nun will be performed on 24th, 25th and 26th September and tickets are on sale now.
