Don't miss the opportunity, on Friday, 24 July, of seeing one of the earliest surviving pastoral staffs belonging to one of the early Manx Saints. St Moluag's Bachuil Mor, dating from the 6th century, as it is to be brought to St German's Cathedral by the Coarb of St Moluag, Abbot of Lismore, for a very special Service of Welcome.
Moluag, who is said to have been the Island's patron saint during the Norse period, features in a window at the Abbey Church, Ballasalla, holding the Bachuil Mor. The Staff is one of Scotland's treasures and of particular Manx interest not only because of the ancient link with Lismore but also because it is probably similar to St Maughold's Staff, which features prominently in the ?Chronicles of Man and the Isles'.
Lord Bachuil, the Abbot of Lismore will be welcomed by the Bishop of Sodor and Man and the Dean of St German's Cathedral as part of the anniversary celebrations for St Moluag.
To find out more about Moluag the Fair and his contribution to the Story of Mann, come along to St German's Cathedral in Peel at 7.30pm on Friday 24 July. It's all part of our series, ?Discovering the Manx Saints', and a light supper is included!
