by isleofman.com 20th July 2015
The Select Committee on Animal Welfare – Petition for Redress will be holding an oral evidence on the morning of Friday 24th July 2015 at 10.30am in Legislative Council Chamber.

Evidence will be taken from Lyn Renshaw, Sanctuary Manager, MSPCA; Adrian Cannell, Welfare Officer, MSPCA and Raymond Cox, Principal, Milan Veterinary Practice (the MSPCA’s veterinary surgeon).

This will be the second oral evidence session to be held by this Committee – the previous one having been with representatives from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

It is intended to hold a third oral evidence session on Thursday 30th July 2015 at 2.30pm in Legislative Council Chamber. This session will be attended by representatives of local veterinary surgeons.

Oral evidence sessions are held in public, recorded by Hansard and may also be heard through the Listen (or Listen again) facility on Tynwald website: www.tynwald.org.im.

The Committee was set up by Tynwald in response to a Petition for Redress presented by Ms Roseleen Harrison at St John’s on July 7th 2014 requesting that Tynwald consider the introduction of animal welfare legislation in the Isle of Man comparable to that contained in the UK Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The Select Committee’s Members are Mrs Kate Beecroft MHK (chair), Mr David Cretney and Mrs Brenda Cannell MHK. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
