It’s less than a month until the 2015 Microgaming Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon, which is expected to be the busiest event yet!
Microgaming and the Marathon Committee have been busy preparing for the race; goody bags are packed, gazebos are at the ready and the popular buffet has been ordered. Entries currently stand at 222 for the Half Marathon and 89 for the Marathon, slightly ahead on last year’s numbers at this point in time. Entries are still open until the end of the month.
Taking place Sunday 9th August 2015 in Ramsey, the race features in August’s Runners World, the UK's largest running magazine. The sports journalist, who took part in last year’s Half Marathon event, was full of praise for the island and race: “…a goody bag so stuffed you could barely close it, and a genuinely warm welcome, and you have an event you really should think about investigating”.
Furthermore, this month, with the help of Microgaming, a new website has launched for the event, isleofmanmarathon.com. Featuring details about the course and travel, and online entry via SiEntries, it’s the go-to place for information about the race.
Terry Bates, Chairman of Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club, commented: “We’re all working incredibly hard to make sure this year’s event is the best yet! The race report in Runner’s World was extremely positive and showcases the Isle of Man Half Marathon as an enjoyable and appealing event on the UK racing calendar. And the launch of a new website, kindly created by Microgaming and their staff at MGS House, shows our commitment to continually improve the event.”
Claire Coleman, Head of Microgaming PlayItForward, added: “The positive report in Runner’s World and the new website is a culmination of many months hard work. Seeing entries up on this time last year is proof that the hard graft is paying off. We’re certainly proud to be involved in such a well-respected sports event, and we are looking forward to August’s race.”
Entries to the Marathon and Half Marathon close Thursday 30th July 2015. To enter please visit isleofmanmarathon.com.
