Investigation after boy swept into sea

by isleofman.com 20th July 2015

A young boy was rescued by a member of the public after the bouncy castle he was playing on was lifted off Douglas prom and swept into the sea.

Douglas Corporation is investigating the incident that occurred during the run-up to Douglas carnival on Saturday afternoon in windy weather conditions. The boy was taken to Noble's Hospital as a precaution and later released. All the inflatable attractions on Douglas prom were closed down.

The man who jumped into the sea and rescued the boy has been named on social media as Johnny Glover. There are calls on the Douglas Corporation facebook page to give him a bravery award.

Douglas Corporation has issued a statement saying: 'Douglas Borough Council is unable to comment further until a full investigation has been carried out, save to extend its gratitude to the gentleman who brought the child out of the water and to other members of the public who assisted.'
