by isleofman.com 13th July 2015

Lesley Sleight from Ronague will make her World Championship debut for Great Britain, one of a nine-strong team competing in the Archery World Championships in Italy at the end of August.

Lesley, who teaches PE at QEII High School, will be competing in the Ladies longbow class. She has won the British championships and broken two UK records.

She said: 'This will be my first world championships and I am looking forward to competing against the top women longbow archers in the world. I would like to thank my coach and husband Rodger Sleight who over the past 13 years has not only trained me but has made 100s of wooden arrows for me to compete with.'

Rodger is the club coach at Bowderyn Vannin Field Archery Club and regularly volunteers his time teaching archery at QEII High School.
