A fundraising event is being held on Sunday July 19 to raise funds for a support group which helps cancer patients here on the Island. The Manx Swallows afternoon tea event will be held at Vagabonds Rugby Club from 2pm to 5pm. There will be cakes, toys and prizes with all funds raised going to The Manx Swallows group which is a head and neck cancer patient and carer support group.
The group says that one in three of us will get cancer, and for most of us it will be the toughest fight we ever face. The journey from diagnosis through to treatment and recovery can be very tough, quite simply nobody knows what it is like to have head and neck cancer better than the patients and carers who have already been through it. That’s why The Manx Swallows group is so important as it brings together patients, partners, family and carers to share their experiences and to support each other. The money raised will help to make sure that no one diagnosed with these types of cancer has to face their illness alone.
