Big beach clean

by isleofman.com 9th July 2015

Children from Ramsey Grammar School have joined forces with the charity Beach Buddies in the biggest single beach cleaning event of the year.

It takes place tomorrow (Friday) on north Ramsey beach and is open for anybody to attend.

Bill Dale of Beach Buddies said: 'A year ago the event set a new world record when more people gathered to clean one beach than ever before, with 997 people involved. This year there will not be a world record attempt, as a large number of the Ramsey students are currently involved in work experience.'

There will still be more than 700 people taking part.

The one-hour session gets under way at 9.30am. Last year, 644 bags of rubbish were collected.

Bill said: 'We are keen to see whether an increased number of regular beach cleaning sessions in Ramsey this last twelve months have made a difference.'
