Equiom’s ‘500 Mile Challenge’ raises over ?4,000 for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation

by isleofman.com 8th July 2015
A team of Equiom employees has raised over ?4,000 for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation by walking a total of 772 combined miles in this year’s Parish Walk.

The team, which consisted of 21 individuals from Equiom’s Isle of Man and Jersey offices and included several Directors, was challenged to complete a combined total of 500 miles with a fundraising goal of ?2,000.

Yachting and Aviation Manager Andy Limbrick initiated the challenge in memory of a colleague who passed away suddenly last year. He commented: “Many of our team had thought about doing the Parish Walk but have never got around to it. Last August, we lost our colleague and friend, Marina Gall. Marina's passing drove home the fact that we just don’t know what’s around the corner, so we did the walk in memory of a very special friend who always had a smile for everyone and lived her life to the full. We are proud to be supporting Craig's Heartstrong Foundation, a cause that we feel passionately about.”

Equiom Group Client Services Director, Aidan Davin, was part of the Equiom team. He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us to raise such an impressive figure for a worthy cause that is close to all of our hearts. I am so proud of everyone involved – we all set out with our own personal goals and together we smashed our target of 500 miles. Special congratulations go out to Andy Limbrick and Sandra Finnegan who completed the entire 85-mile circuit.”

Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation is an Isle of Man charity which raises funds to enable heart screening of local people between the ages of 14 and 35 in order to detect possible symptoms of Hypertropic and Dilated Cardiomyopathy and thus help to prevent Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS).

Having exceeded the 500-mile target this year, the Equiom team plans to set a new target of 1,000 miles for next year’s Parish Walk!
