Following the release of the MostlyManx 2015 artisan directory, founder Dian Skelton is keen to promote the talented artisans of the Isle of Man by distributing the directory through local shops and outlets.
Each new artisan has been armed with ten copies of the directory to pass on to friends and family, but the real objective of the MostlyManx team is promote Manx heritage and culture to holidaymakers and travelers.
A Talented Bunch…
This year’s new artisan additions have bolstered an already impressive portfolio of talented craftspeople. New artisans include; Miranda Caley of Glonney Designs, specialist in colored kiln glass art works and jewellery from her Kirk Michael based studio.
Sarah Butler, bespoke card maker who works from her home in Ramsey. Sarah is visually impaired and a donation from all her card sales is given to the Manx Blind Welfare Society.
The Canvas Art Studio, dedicated providers of hand-made canvas prints, where every process is completed in their workshop and studio based on Market Hill, Douglas.
Why Not Spread Manx Pride?
The Isle of Man Sea Terminal in Douglas is already stocking the directory and, as the main point of arrival for all passengers and car ferries, is a hub of activity and an ideal location to introduce travelers and holidaymakers to Manx heritage.
The Chesterhouse Hotel in Douglas is also supporting Manx pride and have kindly agreed to stock and distribute the directory to tourists and other guests staying at the hotel. As well as displaying a permeant showcase of MostlyManx products, Peter and his front of house staff all sport ties and neck-scarves in the traditional pattern of Laxey Manx tartan, which is produced at the Laxey Woollen Mills.
The directory is an ideal read for people looking for gift ideas; from jewellery, ceramics and Teddy Bears to fudge, chocolate and honey. So if you want to get involved and support Manx pride, please contact Lacey at MostlyManx for details and to organise distribution. - lacey@mostlymanx.com.
