Polo is one of the Island’s fastest growing sports, and on July 5 there’s a chance to find out why at a charity match which is raising funds for The Children’s Centre. Tickets costing ?5 per person are now on sale for the event which will be held at the Great Meadow, Castletown, from 1pm to 6pm. In addition to seeing an exciting polo match, guests will be able to visit a marquee for light refreshments including sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee, and soft drinks. The event is also licensed to sell wine and there will be a selection of red, white, rose and sparkling wines available.
Juana Warburton, Development Manager at The Children’s Centre, commented:
“Polo matches are much more than just exciting sporting events, they’re also great social occasions. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we’ll see lots of visitors bringing picnic blankets and ladies in their posh frocks to add to the atmosphere. We’re extremely grateful to the Triskelion Polo Club for allowing us to stage this fundraising event and everyone who attends will be making an important contribution to The Children’s Centre’s charitable projects.”
All funds raised will go towards The Children’s Centre’s Mobex, Out2Play, Child Contact Centre, Thriving Families, Community Development and Community Farm projects which help families and children across the Island.
There will be ample car parking space near to the polo field, but the venue is also easy to get to by bus or train as it’s only a five minute walk from the centre of Castletown. Entry is free for children aged five or under, and all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. You can pay on the gate, or buy tickets online at www.thechildrenscentre.org.im
