Opportunity to play key role in financial services regulation

by isleofman.com 29th June 2015
Highly motivated individuals are currently being sought to play an important role in the regulation of the Isle of Man’s financial services industries.

The Treasury has extended the deadline for applications to join the Financial Services Authority (FSA), which will come into effect on 01 November 2015 following the merger of the Financial Supervision Commission and the Insurance and Pensions Authority.

The independent body plays a key role in supporting the Island’s economy and its continued development as a well-regulated and responsible international business centre.

Suitably qualified professionals who feel they have the necessary qualities and experience to serve on the board of the FSA are invited to submit an application before 5pm on Friday 03 July.

The Treasury is seeking members who collectively can demonstrate experience across a range of sectors including banking and payment services, insurance and pensions, investments and funds, and trust and corporate services.

Minister Eddie Teare MHK said: ‘The Isle of Man’s international reputation is fundamental to its future success. The new fused regulator will work closely with the business community to address the future needs of the economy. The Treasury is looking for high-calibre board members to lead the further development of the Island’s regulatory framework.’
