Investigation into bird colony disturbance

by isleofman.com 26th June 2015

Police are appealing for information after reports that a photographer disturbed protected birds nesting at the Point of Ayre.

Artic terns are nesting in fenced off colonies in the area, having travelled from the southern oceans to breed at the site.

Wildlife crime officer Mark Kerruish said: 'It is believed that a number of people were in the area at the time and they are described as having being clearly upset as a result of the birds being disturbed and agitated.'

The incident occurred between 10am and 11am on Wednesday June 24.
