First Names Group supports young cycling champion

by isleofman.com 24th June 2015

Local trust, fund and corporate services provider First Names Group has agreed to support Nicholas Corlett, a 19-year-old cross-country mountain bike racer who will compete in the NatWest Island Games XVI this summer. This is the Group’s second sponsorship agreement backing Isle of Man competitors in the 2015 Games.

The sponsorship money pledged by First Names Group will contribute towards the mountain bike racer’s travel and accommodation expenses during the Games.

The inter-island competition, starting this Saturday (27th June) and running until 4th July, includes four opportunities for gold medals in the mountain biking category, with two individual and two team races.

Nick Corlett has been competing for over 10 years and is now training and racing full time. He is currently ranked second in the UK, having won the North of England Championships for the second year running. He is Senior Manx Road Champion as well as Manx Mountain Bike Champion for 2014 and came third overall in the UK cross-country series.

Upon receiving his sponsorship cheque from First Names Group, Nick Corlett said:

“I am so proud to be representing the Isle of Man at this year’s Island Games, and am very grateful to First Names Group for their support. The island is already well-known for its road racers so it’s time we became known for cross-country racing too!”

Speaking of their sponsorship contribution, James Russell, Associate Director of First Names Group in Isle of Man, commented:

“Our brand identity very much celebrates our individuals and what makes them special, so we are delighted to be able to support such promising new talent in the Island Games. We wish Nick the very best of luck.”

First Names Group is a regular supporter of the island’s sporting talent. Sponsorship of Nick Corlett follows the Group’s recently announced support for the Isle of Man Beach and Indoor Men’s Volleyball teams, as well as its ongoing sponsorship of the Elite Juniors programme, an Isle of Man feeder system for the England Hockey squad.
