Health Minister Howard Quayle has described the creation of a new extension at Noble's Hospital as an 'important milestone' in neonatal care.
He has officially opened the neonatal unit and congratulated the contractors, staff involved in the project and clinicians who deliver care to seriously ill babies, adding: 'We have here exceptional facilities to meet the needs of newborn babies who require specialist support and care - undoubtedly some of the most vulnerable people who will ever require the services of Noble's Hospital.'
Guest of honour at the opening was Professor Neena Modi of Imperial College London who serves as president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Dr Thiagarajan said: 'It is always a challenge to meet standards as they continually evolve, but we have been extremely fortunate to receive this significant investment for which I would like to thank the Isle of Man Government and Members of Tynwald. It is a lasting legacy that will make a real difference to people’s lives.'
