Noble’s Park is to be the setting when the Isle of Man County Crown Green Bowling Association plays its final senior county championship match of 2015 against Lancashire on Sunday July 5th.
The Douglas Borough Council-owned park will also be hosting the Isle of Man Open Crown Green Bowling Festival from June 22nd to 26th.
Development officer Mark Kneen said: ‘We’re extremely grateful to the Council, especially to the team who keep the greens in such excellent condition, for agreeing to host this all-important match. 2015 is the first year we have competed in the senior county championships, so it’s a tremendous achievement for us to be playing our third and final match and be representing the Isle of Man at Noble’s Bowling Club.’
Regeneration and community committee chairman Councillor John Skinner said: ‘Noble’s Park has long been a popular destination for crown green bowlers and the parks team are to be commended for maintaining the greens in perfect condition. I am delighted that we are hosting this month’s bowling festival and that we will be showcasing the park to visitors for this crucial county championship match. The Isle of Man team are to be congratulated on their success to date and on behalf of the Council I wish them good luck for when they compete against Lancashire in July.’
