Tynwald Day 2015 will see the addition of an iconic new fixture among the celebrations: The Manx Bard Poets’ Corner.
The Manx Bard Committee are hosting the Poets’ Corner at the Manx Arboretum.
Visitors will be able to see the specially commissioned Manx bardic chair and robes and enjoy live performances from poets throughout the day.
This year will see the appointment of the first living Manx Bard – in recognition of our proud poetic heritage, T.E. Brown was named first Manx Bard last year. The Bard will be unveiled at Manx Litfest in September.
‘Poets’ Corner at Tynwald Day is part of the build-up to the unveiling,’ said Bridget Carter, Chair of the Manx Bard Committee. ‘There is a real wealth of poetic talent in the Island and there will be a whole range of great spoken word performances on the day.’
Anyone who would like to perform is welcome – please get in touch with Bridget Carter on bridgetcarterpoetry@mcb.net.
