A 27 year old man died in the early hours of today at Noble's Hospital while under police guard.
He had been arrested on Friday June 12 on suspicion of drug trafficking offences and had been under police guard at the hospital after being taken there following his arrest.
A police spokesman said: 'Whilst under police guard, the man became ill and despite the considerable efforts of the medical staff to revive him, he was pronounced dead.'
The man's family have been informed but he has not yet been formally named. Police have launched an investigation and say a post mortem will take place.
