Next deadline for joining voters register

by isleofman.com 11th June 2015

Island residents who are not already on the electoral register are reminded that the next deadline for being added to the register is Wednesday June 17. This is the cut-off date for inclusion in the next quarterly revision of the register which is effective from July 1.

Residents cannot vote in House of Keys or local authority elections unless they are on the register. Being unregistered can also affect a person’s credit reference history and excludes them from jury service.

For further information on registering to vote or for any other enquiry regarding the electoral process please contact the Electoral Registration Unit, Crown and Elections, Cabinet Office, Government Office, Bucks Road, Douglas, IM1 3PN. For email enquiries use voters@gov.im or call voters general enquiries on 685754 during office hours (Monday-Friday).

  • Meanwhile the Cabinet Office has sent a message of thanks to the Isle of Man Law Society in appreciation of the public service given by the Returning Officers in the recent House of Keys by-elections in Douglas. The Law Society puts forward the names of individuals to become Returning Officers, who are appointed by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor. The message states: ‘The notable commitment and hard work of the Returning Officers for Douglas North, Mr Laurence Keenan, and Douglas South, Mr Kirk McCarthy, and their respective teams ensured that the by-elections of 21 May 2015 were conducted effectually.’
