Isle of Man Creamery wins British Cheese Award The Isle of Man Creamery has won a Silver Medal for its Vintage Cheddar at the British Cheese Awards, an annual event held at the Royal Bath and West Show each May.
The Awards are now in their 22nd year and as part of the Royal Bath and West show are attended by tens of thousands of people, and sponsored by major retail brands such as Tesco and Marks & Spencer. This year The Isle of Man Creamery was one of almost two hundred cheese makers from across Britain and Ireland, which between them submitted well over a thousand cheeses for consideration by the judges. It was in the face of this significant competition that the Isle of Man Creamery took home a coveted Silver Medal Award.
Managing Director Findlay Macleod enthused: “It’s hugely gratifying to be recognised again at a national level, in this celebration of British cheeses. The Silver Medal is welcome recognition of the high level of skill and care taken by our cheese makers, and I couldn’t be prouder of the staff here.”
This is not the first time that the Isle of Man Creamery has been recognised at the British Cheese Awards, as it has previously won a Bronze Medal in the same category. The vintage cheese that won the award is a fairly major export product for the Isle of Man, as it is one of the range of Isle of Man Creamery cheeses that can be found on the shelves of retailers across the UK, such as Tesco, as well as several retailers in the USA.
