Team Up For Citywing Charity Plane Pull 2015

by isleofman.com 4th June 2015

Citywing is inviting local businesses to flex their muscles and raise money for a good cause by taking part in a sponsored Plane Pull event at Isle of Man Airport on Sunday 28th June.

This year, teams will be raising money for Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, Citywing’s Charity of the Year. The Isle of Man-based charity funds nursing staff to provide respite care and end-of-life palliative care for Island residents with cancer, or other life-limiting illnesses, where curative treatment is no longer possible or appropriate, and who choose to remain at home in their last days; in effect, to provide a ‘Hospice at Home’ service.

Citywing has provided them with 24 return Business Select tickets to use for fundraising during the year on their routes from the Island to Blackpool, Belfast, Glasgow, Gloucester and Newcastle.

Entrants will need to work together to pull an aircraft along a 34 metre course which last year was completed by the Douglas RUFC team in a record time of 13.12 seconds, beating the previous year’s winners by more than three seconds. As a reward for their efforts, teams will also be treated to a breakfast of bacon baps, tea and coffee, courtesy of Sleepwell Hotels.

David Buck, Managing Director at Citywing, said: ‘Last year’s Plane Pull was a fantastic success, and we are excited to invite local businesses to put forward a team to participate in this year’s event. It is brilliant fun for everyone involved, and offers a great team-building opportunity as well as being a unique way to contribute to a very worthwhile cause.

‘We are delighted to be working alongside Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust throughout 2015, and to help raise money for, and awareness of, the services that this brilliant local charity provides.’

Ron Spencer, Chairman at Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, added: ‘We are really looking forward to the Plane Pull, which promises to be a really enjoyable fundraising event. Anyone interested in participating, please do get in touch for details.

‘Teams should be made up of eight people, but team numbers for the event are limited so please make sure you get your applications in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Family and friends are more than welcome to come along and offer encouragement too!’
