This week, the Department of Health and Social Care will be issuing anonymous ‘GP Surveys’ to a selection of patients across all of the Island’s GP Practices.
Around 8,300 surveys will be issued to members of the public which will give a broad spectrum of feedback. The last GP survey undertaken in 2013 covered all aspects of the service provided and showed an overall positive response of 93% of patients being happy with their GP practice.
This survey, which has been jointly devised by the Department and Ipsos MORI, will be distributed to selected patients by post. The deadline for the completed surveys to be returned to the Department is 21 August 2015.
The survey comprises several components from a range of topics vital to customer service satisfaction. Each section asks questions relating to personal experience on:
- Accessing GP Services
- Making an appointment
- Waiting times
- Most recent GP appointment
- Most recent Nurse appointment
- Overall experience
- Out of hours care
Annmarie Cubbon, Acting Head of Externally Contracted Services, said: “Surveys like this one are instrumental in the development of services within the Department of Health and Social Care. This is a real opportunity to influence and enhance GP services and I would encourage those who receive a survey to fill it out and send it to the Department. We will be distributing 8,300 surveys, less than 10% of the Island’s population, so it is essential we receive as many responses as possible.”
The survey will come with a pre-paid envelope which will be addressed to the Department of Health and Social Care where the results will be collated and sent to Ipsos MORI for analysis. The full results of the survey will be published at the end of September.
In addition, patients are also reminded that they can give feedback on GP services at any time at www.tinyurl.com/iomgp.
