The Department of Economic Development has launched the 2015 Energy Awards and is now encouraging local organisations to submit entries.
This year awards are offered for Best Innovation, Best Practice and Biggest Savings with public sector and private sector organisations each having their own category in respect of these.
Tony Wild MLC, the Department’s Political Member with responsibility for Energy commented:
‘We would like to hear from any local organisation which has made significant energy savings over the course of the past year as a result of measures they have taken to make them more energy efficient.
‘Previous recipients of awards range from large multi-national firms through to small owner/proprietor businesses. They have highlighted excellent examples of energy saving initiatives that are being implemented across the Island.
’The Department is committed to helping minimise the impact of our energy use on the environment and as outlined in the Vision 2020 strategy, ensure the Island’s energy policy is sustainable for future generations’
Dr Ken Milne, Director of Energy and Support Services, Department of Economic Development added:
‘The awards also enable recognition of the Isle of Man’s Energy Champions, a scheme that is managed by the Department and which has proved to be very popular with over 120 Champions now operating within organisations across both public and private sectors.’
Organisations wishing to submit an entry for the Energy Awards should visit www.gov.im/categories/business-and-industries/energy/to upload their entry. Closing date for submissions is 17th July 2015.
