by isleofman.com 2nd June 2015

A total of 64 golfers took part in The Children’s Centre’s annual golf day which is one of the charity’s most important annual fundraising events. Around ?6,000was raised with all funds going towards charitable projects which help families and children across the Island, including Mobex, Out2Play, Child Contact Centre, Thriving Families, Community Development and the Community Farm.

Louise Craddock, Fundraising Volunteer at The Children’s Centre, said:

“This is the tournament’s ninth year and in that time it has raised almost ?50,000. Once again the golf day proved to be a lot of fun, and all the golfers had a fantastic time and generated a magnificent fundraising total. We’re extremely grateful to our main sponsor B&B Furniture Ltd, and to plan.com, Richmond Square Group, Creechurch Capital, Knox House Trust Limited and Tower Insurance, for also supporting the event. Thanks also to Robinsons for providing snacks, and to Douglas Golf Club professional Mike Vipond for all of his help and support.”

Barclays Bank were the overall winners of the tournament and received the coveted Children’s Centre Golf Day Trophy. Runners-up were Knox House Trust Limited and there were individual spot prizes for nearest the pin (Les Miller, Richmond Square); and the longest drive (Tim Eve, Knox House Trust Limited). The Wooden Spoon award went to the MAS Real Estate team.

The event, held on Friday May 29 at Douglas Golf Club, began with delicious breakfast baps, tea and coffee to fuel all the golfers for the day ahead, and ended with a meal and prize presentation in the evening.

The golf day is just one of a number of corporate, adventure and community events organised by The Children’s Centre each year to raise vital funds. To find out about upcoming events go to www.thechildrenscentre.org.im or
