At approximately 14:00hrs on Sunday 31st May 2015 the Emergency Joint Control Room received a 999 call to a two vehicle road traffic collision at Corkhills Garage, Main Road, Onchan.
On arrival of the appliances from Douglas Station the Officer in Charge was met by Ambulance Personnel who were already in attendance who stated that there was only one casualty who they required removing from the driver’s seat of a Vauxhall Zafira. After an assessment by the Paramedic crew it was felt that the elderly male casualty would be able to be removed without having to use the heavy cutting equipment. Crews assisted in getting the casualty onto a stretcher where he was then transported to Nobles Hospital.
It became apparent that this had been a relatively low speed impact collision causing damage to the front end of both the Vauxhall Zafira and an Audi Q7.
Crews remained in attendance for a further 20 minutes to make the vehicles safe and assist in sweeping debris from the road.
An update on the injuries suffered by the Zafira driver is unknown at this time.
