Golf day sponsored by Celton Manx in aid of Cruse Bereavement Care raises more than ?6,500

A corporate golf day in aid of Cruse Bereavement Care has raised more than ?6,500.

Sponsored by Celton Manx for the fourth year in succession the event was held at Peel Golf Club and attracted a strong following by members of the business community, who were joined by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Mr Adam Wood.

Cruse Bereavement’s Sam Skelton said: ‘Our sincere thanks to Celton Manx for their continued support and presence on the day. Feedback from the players has been fantastically positive and the ?6,500-plus raised will be a major help to our charity.’

Cruse Bereavement service coordinator Amanda Cafearo said: ‘We would like to express how grateful we are for our fourth year of sponsorship of this event by Celton Manx. It will contribute greatly to the work we do for bereaved adults, children and young people in the Island.’

Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ‘Cruse Bereavement Care not only helps people to deal with loss emotionally and practically but is also bringing about change in society’s recognition, understanding and acceptance of bereavement.

‘We have been pleased to sponsor the golf day once again and I should like to join with Sam and Amanda in acknowledging the generosity of local businesses which has led to such a substantial figure being raised to advance the charity’s work in supporting people at one of the most difficult times in their lives.’
