Smile and have your Manx Telecom Parish Walk photos sent direct to Facebook!

by isleofman.com 26th May 2015

Anyone taking part in this year’s Manx Telecom Parish Walk can choose to have photos of them in the event uploaded directly to their Facebook page. A team of volunteer photographers will be taking pictures around the course as usual, but this year everyone who signs up for the ‘Pic2Go’ service will have their photos automatically published on their Facebook timeline so friends and family can share in the fun. It will be the first time that Pic2Go has been used at any event on the Island, and has only been made possible thanks to Manx Telecom which is providing the service for free.

Pic2Go also relies on the company’s superfast 4G mobile broadband network which has 99% population coverage, and the bandwidth required for photographers to upload photos on location around the course. Around 12,000 pictures will be taken on the day of the race which adds up to a massive amount of mobile data that will be uploaded via Manx Telecom’s 4G network.

All you need to do to register for Pic2Go is sign up at www.manxtelecom.com/parishphotos – it will be run on an ‘opt in’ basis so only those walkers that register will have their photos sent to Facebook.

Pic2Go works using software which recognises a unique barcode on the race number of each walker. After the event, which takes place on Saturday June 20, all competitors will have the opportunity to search for and purchase all photos by race number at www.isleofman.in with all profits going to charity.

Voirrey Barron, Marketing Communications Manager at Manx Telecom, said:

“Ever since Manx Telecom became the Parish Walk’s title sponsor in 2012 we have supported the hard work of the organisers to encourage new participants from all ages to take part. We have also used our expertise in technology to enhance the experience of competitors, and to help friends and family follow their progress on the day. Thanks to our 4G mobile broadband network, the Pic2Go service will add another exciting dimension to how everyone can experience this year’s event.”
