by isleofman.com 26th May 2015

Douglas RNLI lifeboat was launched yesterday (25th May) at 12.50am at the request of Douglas Coastguard following the report of a person entering the sea from Douglas beach.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer Coxswain Neal Corran to assist the Coastguards in a search of Douglas Bay following the report of a person walking down Douglas beach and into the sea opposite the Palace Hotel.

The lifeboat made complete sweeps of Douglas Bay proceeding close inshore as far as Onchan Head and returning a little further out deploying parachute flares to assist in the search. With no person being found Douglas Coastguard stood down the lifeboat at 2.10am to return to its station to be re-housed and made ready again for service.
