Twenty-seven Manx charities will benefit from the generosity of employees at Zurich.

The international life company has recently donated ?20,000 to support their work through its annual Charity Grant Process. Employees based at Zurich’s offices on Athol Street in Douglas put forward their favourite charities to receive a grant, and then voted to determine a final list. The money is donated from the company’s own charity, the Zurich Financial Services (IOM) Staff Charity Fund.

The Manx beneficiaries of Zurich’s Charity Grant Process are:

  • Rebecca House
  • Manx Breast Cancer Support Group

  • Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation

When Zurich was established in the Isle of Man 33 years ago, its employees made a commitment to support the community in which they live and work, and since then the company has regularly supported the work of local charities. In February 1990, it established the Zurich Financial Services (IOM) Staff Charity Fund as a formal way of supporting the Manx community.

In the financial year to the end of June 2014, the company donated more than ?46,000 to local charities.

The recipients of the 2015 Zurich Charity Grant Process received their cheques at a recent event hosted at Bar George by Zurich’s CEO, Clive Baker, who thanked them for the valuable work they do to support a wide cross sector of the Island’s community.

The event was compered by Zurich’s Communications Manager, Merita Taylor, who commented: “Zurich’s Charity Grant Process event is always very eye-opening for me because our Charity Committee members get to hear, first hand, about the valuable work that our recipients do in the Isle of Man. It is very inspiring to see how much personal time and dedication goes into their work, and how selfless many of them are. It is inevitable that, on a small Island, these charities will touch the lives of our employees in some way and so Zurich is only too delighted to provide such valuable support to them.”
