Ramsey joined with towns and villages across the Isle of Man, the UK Europe and beyond on Friday May 8th to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.
In the Courthouse Gardens at 3pm Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Richard Radcliffe led a two-minute silence at the cenotaph, where he laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Ramsey in remembrance of those who died in the Second World War.
Reflecting on the occasion Mr Radcliffe said: ‘We must never forget the sacrifice paid by the men and women from our town, our island and from across the world who fought to protect and preserve the freedom we all enjoy today. To commemorate VE Day is our opportunity to thank and honour all those who served.’
