New era dawns for Island's UK relations

Political leaders in the Island are weighing-up Westminster's likely approach to the Crown Dependencies in the wake of the UK general election.
Conservative gains look set to return David Cameron to Downing Street with an overall majority.
In recent years, the Manx government has fostered relations with all the main UK parties, as polls suggested a hung parliament.
Constitutional expert Professor St John Bates, a former Clerk of Tynwald, is a long-time observer of the Island's international standing.
He says it's imperative political leaders here forge stronger relations with the Tories - and any smaller parties they form alliances with, such as Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionists:
