Private sector audit expertise for Douglas Council

by isleofman.com 8th May 2015

Island accountancy firm Crowe Clark Whitehill has been appointed internal auditors to Douglas Borough Council.

Director Phaedra Bird signed an internal audit charter on behalf of the company while deputy mayor Councillor Jon Joughin did so on behalf of the council.

Welcoming the agreement, Ms Bird said: "At Crowe Clark Whitehill we recognise that local authorities are having to deliver more for less; our internal audit service is not only cost effective but also risk-focused and complements the Council’s governance and strategic objectives."

She went on: "Importantly, as a member firm of Crowe Horwath International, we have access to independent global accounting resources, so are able to deliver a world-class audit service at a very localised level.’
