Entry forms are still available for the Friends Provident International Harbour 2 Harbour Walk taking place on Sunday 10 May.

According to organisers, numbers are already considerably up on last year’s inaugural event so are advising people to download a form from www.hubclubsci.im   Registration for the event begins at 9.15am with walkers setting off from The Bay on Port Erin promenade at 10am.

Organiser Janet Bridle said: ‘We’ve been delighted by the number of entries we have received so far; proof that the event is gaining a reputation for being unique, challenging and great fun. We’ve also focused on improving our social media engagement through regular posts including walking tips from Gareth Watt Osteopathy and competitions. We’ll be posting live updates and photographs on the day too.’

The scenic nine-mile coastal route from Port Erin to Castletown will culminate in a family fun event in the grounds of Castle Rushen including a special Community Art Project, where people of all ages will be invited to add their handprint to a large canvas to be displayed at the Community Art Garden at The Hub in Thie Rosien. Visitors will also be encouraged to paint pebbles, which can be taken home, paint plant pots and make wind chimes, which will be included in the Art Garden.

There will be Manx music and dance from Bree and Perree Bain, performances from Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band and face painting.

The event is being sponsored by Friends Provident International who has entered a team of 70 and will provide volunteers to help on the day with marshalling and refreshments. The three southern charities to benefit are Men in Sheds, Southern Befrienders and SPort Erin. The event is being organised by Southern Community Initiatives, which aims to create local projects that draw the community together and promote friendship through organised activities.
