by isleofman.com 30th April 2015

The Isle of Man has pledged to support the UK Disaster Emergency Committee's appeal for help following the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

A ?100,000 donation will go towards essential aid for survivors who are in desperate need of medical help, food, water and shelter. The quake has killed thousands of people with many more injured.

Treasury member Phil Braidwood said: 'My sympathies are with those in great need in Nepal. The Isle of Man International Development Committee has a close relationship with Nepal through funding to the Pahar Trust and other charities. The Committee are pleased to be able to offer the Isle of Man’s continued support to Nepal, through the DEC which will provide the most effective response to this tragic natural disaster.'
