Adventurous Experiences has revealed details of a new course as they mark 11 years of adventure this month.
The adventure sports business was established in 2004 by Keirron Tastagh to realise his ambition of improving outdoor skills and leadership on the island. Today, the business has grown to a team of 11, including 4 full time staff and the team proudly offers a number of different adventures which are enjoyed by both the local and visitor market. These include Sea Kayaking, Coasteering, Gorge Scrambling, Rock Climbing, Wilderness Living, the Youth Scholarship program, the Junior Kayak School, Youth Development Weeks, Corporate training and the Isle of Man Adventure Race, held in September each year.
The 11th "adventure" is an exciting new addition for 2015. In response to demand the company has launched a Personal Development Week for adults, running Monday to Friday during late June. Operations Manager John Keggin said "Last year we launched our Youth Development Weeks for young adventurers, these week long courses received exceptional feedback and are running once again this summer. We had a number of requests for an adult version of the course which we are excited to be launching this year".
The personal development week is a flexible program offering an action packed week of different adventures, exploring the island via land and in water, focusing on personal development and outdoor skills. Participants will complete a Discover Sea Kayaking course and try Coasteering, visiting secret places whilst learning outdoor practical, leadership and risk management skills.
A key element to Adventurous Experiences continued success is the attitude to risk and leadership. Owner and lead coach Keirron Tastagh explained "Risk Benefit analysis is a practical assessment of benefits and risks. Every time we take a step, we risk a fall. Challenge is positive, and essential to people development. We put risk management at the forefront of decision making, thereby maximising options".
