by isleofman.com 30th April 2015

Manx Cancer Help is delighted to receive a fantastic ?5,300 from this year’s Barclays Step Corporate Challenge.

124 people took part in the challenge on Friday 13th March. The event saw 31 teams running up and down the stairs at Barclays’ Eagle Court building, with the teams having to complete as many steps as possible within eight hours.

The winning team, KUTA, managed a massive 18,468 steps, with runners up KPMG and First Names Group achieving 17,820 and 17,604 steps respectively.

Manx Cancer Help would like to thank everyone who took part and all those who donated, raising a total of ?10,600 to be split between Manx Cancer Help and Comic Relief.  Manx Cancer Help would also like to thank Barclays who organised the event, along with the on-going support and fundraising for the charity.

Ally Martin, Fundraising Events Coordinator at Manx Cancer Help, said: ‘We are so grateful to everyone who competed in the challenge and to everyone who donated. Manx Cancer Help is self-funded so events like this are incredibly important to ensuring the longevity of the services that we provide. For so many people in our community the help that we offer while they are going through one of the most difficult times in their life is invaluable.’

Simon Scott, Managing Director at Barclays Private Clients International, said: ‘Barclays is delighted to support such a worthwhile charity in the Isle of Man and I am particularly proud of my colleagues who worked so hard in raising this fantastic amount for Manx Cancer Help. We look forward to working with Manx Cancer Help, and other local charities, on many more initiatives in the future.’
