Landmark building for sale

by isleofman.com 30th April 2015

Potential developers of a government-owned building in Port Erin have until June 1 to express an interest.

The Department of Infrastructure wants to sell the former marine laboratory and says it might be prepared to make additional land available for a more comprehensive development, such as a marina.

Initially, expressions of interest are being sought through local estate agency Black Grace Cowley. The site is designated for mixed use and has outline planning consent for conversion into a marine interpretation centre including associated retail and cafe units, dive centre, offices for marine-related business and a 20 bedroom hotel with parking and landscaping.

Some parts of the building date back over 100 years. The marine biological centre closed in 2006.
