This year’s Albany/Nedgroup Junior Open tournament was concluded on Saturday with prizes presented by Peter Barradell on behalf of Nedgroup. There was an excellent entry in the under 8 which was split in two sections – beginners and experienced.

Results: Under 8 Group A beginners – Gr.1 1st  William Shooter, 2nd Callum Larkin, 3rd Zac Colligon; gr. 2  1st Cameron Roome, 2nd Jared Shepherd, 3rd Liam Taverner. s/finals William bt Jared 10-5, Callum bt Cameron 10-9, final William bt Callum 10/7
Under 8 Group B experienced G2.1-1st Greg Kelly, 2nd Tom Ward, 3rd Ryan Colquitt;  Gr.2 – 1st Orry Farnworth, 2nd Lucas Harding, 3rd Lucas Stennett.  S/Finals Greg bt Lucas 10/5, Orr bt Tom 10/6, Final Greg bt Orry 10/7.

Under 10 Final Jayden Go bt Charlotte Clarke 4/2 4/0

Under 12 Gr. A -  winner Jack Christian, r/up Roch Mirski; Gr B – winner Oliver Wait, r/up Jayden Go, s/final Jack bt Jayden 4/1 4/1, Roch w/o Oliver; final Jack bt Roch 4/1 4/1

Under 14 – r/r – winner Sam Skelcher-Maxwell r/up Jack Christian

Under 18 – r/r – winner Sean Drewry, r/up Sasha Thomas

The club’s Wimbledon ballot will be held on Tuesday 5 May at 7pm in club lounge.

Final reminder to all our members over 35 years old! – entries for the IOMLTA Veteran Championships hosted by Albany on the lovely cushioned courts  which are kind to “old” joints, close 1pm on Monday 4 May. There are forms in the clubhouse or you can enter by e-mail – ianwatsonpts@mmanx.net.
