A tourist information and ticket centre could sit alongside Post Office services in the former courthouse building in Ramsey.
That's the plan from the new company created to retain the post office in the Parliament Street premises.
A public meeting will be held on Thursday May 7 at 7pm in Ramsey Grammar School to outline the way forward.
Commissioners' chairman Nigel Malpass said: 'In recent days some press reports have referred to Ramsey receiving a “downgraded” post office service due to the loss of the Crown status. The Isle of Man Post Office and Ramsey Courthouse Ltd.’s raison d'etre is based on the belief that such a change does not mean a retrograde step.
'We all believe that a local Post Office, operated from an ideal location, with excellent staff committed to delivering services that fulfil the needs of all customers and other stakeholders, will continue to be a welcomed and valued part of the community.'
He said a 'seamless' transfer of post office services would include a portfolio of revenue and non-revenue generating activities, adding: 'We know from the results of the survey we undertook, and additional soundings of our residents in the under 20 year old age bracket, that people in the north would be receptive to the Old Courthouse evolving into a community enterprise hub where we can showcase the work of local artisans and entrepreneurs, as well as promoting Manx culture and island-wide events.'
