Employees from Standard Bank here on the Island have shown their support for the Red Cross by donating ?261.47 from their quarterly dress down Friday fundraising.
Since the Red Cross launched its Nepal Earthquake Appeal this week, Standard Bank has topped up the generous staff donation to ?500 in order to lend further support to the cause.
Standard Bank’s Victoria Cowell said: “The vital work carried out by the Red Cross has been clearly demonstrated this week as the Charity responds to help the people of Nepal following the recent devastating earthquake there. The enormity of support required for rescue operations and aid to save and restore lives cannot be underestimated, and we are delighted that our fundraising for this charity has coincided with such a poignant appeal for support.”
Standard Bank’s quarterly fundraising is donated to a different charity nominated by staff and drawn at random, and the Red Cross was chosen to be the recipient of fundraising in the first quarter of 2015.
The Red Cross is a global voluntary network that responds to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. It helps vulnerable people in the UK and abroad prepare for, withstand and recover from emergencies in their own communities.
