Island's richest revealed

The annual Sunday Times Rich List has been published and it places Pokerstars billionaire Mark Scheinberg
(pictured) at the top of the Isle of Man wealth league.


The 41 year old bachelor's wealth has been estimated at ?2,760million after he sold off Pokerstars. He reportedly divides his time between residences in the Isle of Man and London.Peel Group owner John Whittaker and his family are placed second with a ?2,370million fortune. Island resident Jim Mellon is listed third with wealth totalling ?850million, with the man behind the recent Grand National victory Trevor Hemmings valued at ?675million.


Another new name, in at number five, is Steven Lamprell, owner of one of the largest oil services companies in the Persian Gulf and said to be registered in the Isle of Man, with a ?346million fortune. Island resident Mark Shuttleworth is at number six with ?160million.


The list is published in this weekend's Sunday Times and is based on land, property and other assets and shares. It excludes bank accounts.
