Chance to see the Island on the big screen

The Villa Marina’s Broadway Cinema is set to screen two new feature films, ‘Robot Overlords’ and ‘Spooks’, both of which were filmed in the Isle of Man.
 
‘Robot Overlords’ is a British independent science fiction film that tells the story of a future world that is ruled by robots. Starring Ben Kingsley, Gillian Anderson and Callan McAuliffe the film follows a group of children who set out to join the resistance against the robots. 
 
Filming took place over 18 days in July 2014 and over 60 local extras were involved in key scenes as cast and crew members.
 
Various locations around the Island are featured in the film, including: Ramsey, Jurby Airfield, Douglas, Peel, Castle Rushen, King William’s College and Douglas Railway Station.
 
Robot Overlords will be screened at The Broadway Cinema as a weekend matinee on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April. For more information or to book tickets visit http://cfvg.gov.im/broadway-cinema/ or call the ticket hotline on 600555.
 
‘Spooks: The Greater Good’ is a spy thriller based on the BBC’s long-running hit TV series. The story sees Peter Firth return to the role of Harry Pearce with ‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington also featuring as a new character, MI5 spy Will Holloway.

Filming took place over 13 days in April 2014 with approximately 120 local extras employed for background cast members in key scenes.
 
Various locations around the Island were used for the film, including: Douglas, the Castle Mona Hotel site, Scarlett, Castletown and the Gaiety Theatre.
 
‘Spooks: The Greater Good’ will be screened nightly at The Broadway Cinema from Friday 8th May. Tickets will be available online and via the ticket hotline on 600555 from Friday 1st May.
